Parent Handbook for 2023 – 2024

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Silver Creek! To our returning families, we look forward to working closely with you to continue to achieve the goals and outcomes that are important for your child. To our new families, we will delight in forming a relationship with you and your child and working together to help your child be all that she/he can be.

The work of children is play. As a team of dedicated Early Childhood Educators, PT, OT, Speech & Music therapists, support personnel, office staff and community volunteers we strive to make this a happy, safe, challenging and fun place for your child. Silver Creek staff are enthusiastic professionals who are committed to making a difference in the lives of our students.

Our Parent Resource Coordinator, is a part time staff member available at the school one day a
week. They can support you to access resources for your family (for example, they can help you
complete government income support applications like the ACSD, or Special Services at Home).
A designated Parent Meeting Room is located off the side of the gym and is available for you if
you need to meet with a staff member privately.

Over the course of the school year there will be a few workshops offered for parents on topics
such as speech therapy, transition to kindergarten, school readiness, and parent self care.
Also over the course of the school year there are monthly parent coffee meetings at our local
Second Cup where you can meet and connect with other Silver Creek parents.
During the school year a monthly newsletter is sent out to keep you informed about these
programs.
